Funding Options
At Connect Therapies, services may be accessed through a range of funding pathways depending on eligibility and individual circumstances.
Private Payment
- Clients may choose to access services privately.
- No referral is required and therapy when a place becomes available.
NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme)
- Allied health services may be funded through the NDIS for eligible participants.
- Services are typically claimed under:
- Capacity Building - Improved Daily Living.

- Speech therapy
- Occupational therapy
- Therapy support delivered by Allied Health Assistants under clinician supervision

Participants may access services through:
- Self-managed plans
- Plan-managed plans
Medicare - Chronic Disease Management (CDM)

Clients with a chronic medical condition may be eligible for Medicare rebates if their GP prepares:
- GP Management Plan (GPMP)
- Team Care Arrangement (TCA)
- This allows access to up to 5 allied health sessions per calendar year, shared across all allied health providers.
- Speech Pathology Medicare Item Number
- 10970 - Speech pathology service under a Chronic Disease Management Plan.
- Sessions must generally be a minimum of 20 minutes in duration.
- Medicare provides a partial rebate, and a gap fee may apply
Medicare - Complex Neurodevelopmental Disorders / Eligible Disability (Children and Young People)
Children and young people under 25 years of age with suspected or diagnosed complex neurodevelopmental disorders (such as Autism Spectrum Disorder) may access Medicare-funded allied health services when referred by a paediatrician or psychiatrist.

- Up to 4 allied health assessment sessions

- 93041 - Telephone assessment
- This allows access to up to 5 allied health sessions per calendar year, shared across all allied health providers.
Treatment Services
- Up to 20 therapy sessions following diagnosis and treatment planning.

Private Health Insurance
- Many private health funds offer rebates for allied health services under extras cover.

- Coverage depends on the client’s policy, annual limits and waiting periods.
My Aged Care / Home Care Packages
- Older adults may be able to access allied health services through My Aged Care Home Care Packages.

Occupational therapy services may support:
- Maintaining independence at home
- Functional assessments
- Falls prevention strategies
- Equipment and home modification recommendations
- Support for daily living activities
- Services are usually arranged through the client’s Home Care Package provider, who allocates funding for allied health supports as part of the care plan.
